Why do the assholes seem to get further in life -at least in terms of material things? I would like to think you get back what you put in but I don’t know.
It’s almost like you get to decide which type of suffering you want.
To be self-absorbed with money and things: derive enjoyment from the physical aspects of life, likely have no honest long-lasting meaningful relationships and become bitter towards others because there is a lack of understanding of compassion.
To try and balance the self with others: fail fairly often in this pursuit because no one is perfect, have people you care about who care about you (to laugh/suffer with), but having fewer material possessions and power.
And then all the in-betweens.
